To encourage interaction and feedback from visitors, Cloud Sites offers a Comments Element that integrates either Facebook or Disqus comment systems. This feature is especially useful for blog posts, news articles, or any content that benefits from community engagement. PLEASE NOTE: For comments to work properly, the person making the comment must be logged into their Facebook or Disqus account before visiting the site.
Inserting the Comments Element
To add a comment section:
- Open the Add Elements Drawer
from the left sidebar.
- Scroll to the Social section.
- Locate the Comments element.
- Click, hold, and drag the element into the desired block on the page.
By default, the element loads the Facebook Comments Plugin, displaying the profile image and comment field for any logged-in Facebook user.
Previewing the Comment Section
After placing the element, save the page and preview it on the front end. The comment section will appear at the bottom of the page, allowing visitors to leave comments directly through their Facebook accounts. Comments are tied to the specific page where the element is placed.
Facebook Comments Configuration
In the builder, select the Comments element to access its settings:
- Platform Selection: Choose between Facebook or Disqus.
- Number of Comments: Set how many comments to display (default is 10).
- Page Linking:
- Current Page: Automatically links comments to the page where the element is placed.
- Custom Page: Allows manual entry of a URL to link comments to a different page.
Disqus Comments Configuration
When switching to Disqus, additional settings become available:
- Shortname: Enter the Disqus shortname associated with the account.
- Page Linking: Similar to Facebook, choose between current or custom page URLs.
Styling and Layout Options
Additional customization is available via the Options Toolbar in the top-right corner of the element:
- Width and Height: Adjust to fit the design layout.
- Background, Border, and Shadow Effects
- Alignment
- Padding and Margins
- Entrance Animations and Scroll Effects
- Duplicate and Delete Options
Responsive Design Considerations
The Comments element is designed to render responsively across devices. On tablet and mobile views, content remains functional and visually consistent. Width adjustments may be made to ensure proper display, but no major changes are typically required.
Once configured, the comment section is ready for publishing and will display live comment functionality powered by Facebook or Disqus.
