Websites- Cloud: Advanced Custom Fields and Assets

In the Cloud Websites Builder, blog posts or similar content types are treated as custom assets. These assets allow for the assignment of dynamic fields, enabling the creation of various types of websites with repeating content structures—such as review sites, directories, or portfolios.

Setting Up a Custom Asset

To begin, navigate to the CMS sidebar and select “Create Custom Asset” under the Custom section.

  1. Name the Asset: Provide a singular and plural name. The asset slug will automatically be generated from the plural name.
  2. Choose an Icon: Select an icon that visually represents the asset.
  3. Add Fields: Define the fields that will be used within the asset. For example, a movie review asset might include:
    • Title
    • Excerpt
    • Featured Image
    • Slug

While the title and slug are built-in, additional fields can be customized.

Adding Custom Fields

(The following instructions are using a Movie Poster as the example.)

To include a movie poster image:

  • Add an Image field.
  • Select the image, open its settings, and name it (e.g., “Movie Poster”).
  • Optionally, add a description and mark the field as required.

To include a release year:

  • Add a Text field.
  • Name it (e.g., “Release Year”), and configure it with optional description, placeholder text, and character limits.

Brizy supports various field types, including:

  • Text
  • Rich Text
  • Email
  • Link
  • Select
  • Image
  • Number
  • Reference
  • Multi-reference

These fields allow for the creation of subcategories such as genres (e.g., horror, romance, adventure).

Finalizing the Asset

Once all necessary fields are added, click “Create and Continue” to finalize the asset.

Creating Categories and Linking Them

To add genres:

  1. Create another custom asset (e.g., “Horror”).
  2. Click “Create and Continue”.

To link genres to movies:

  1. Return to the movie review asset.
  2. Click the Configuration button.
  3. Add a Reference field.
  4. Select the genre asset (e.g., “Horror”) as the reference.

After saving, the genre will be linked to the movie asset and appear in the sidebar under the movie’s configuration.
