Staff Layout
This is an archive of all members in your Amplify Website module, which can be filtered based on your preferences. In the element settings, you can customize the number of columns/rows, select the member information you'd like to display and adjust styling options.
The default element will show all members; however, you can customize the content to only display members from specific groups/series. The Group feature in your Amplify Website module is used to segment your staff by group/department, which also controls the "groups" shown in the filter dropdown. To only display specific groups, the Series option can be used to select the specific groups of members shown.
Element Settings
- Columns: the layout element will default to 9 items and 3 columns, but you can adjust the number under this tab
- Display: this is where you can enable/disable content within the element (ie: images, name, position, etc.)
- Page: connect your element to the Staff Detail page under this tab. See details here.
- Filter: this tab controls the filter bar display and labels. The "Series" can be used to display specific groups of staff. See details here.
Staff List
This grid list showcases all available Members from your Amplify Website module. Similar to the Staff Layout element, you can customize the display, specify what data to show, and adjust styling options.
To display a specific group of staff, use the "Settings" option to select a specific group, which will only display the members added to this group in your Amplify Website module. This element is a great option for featuring a specific group of staff on your ministry pages or highlighting your pastors/leaders for new visitors.
Staff Featured
This element can be used to display an individual staff member, and the member can be selected within the element "Settings". If all your members aren't listed in the dropdown, you can use the group selection to first specify a group of staff and then select your member from the smaller group list.
The display options and styling can also be adjusted within the element. You can display the member's bio with the element details, or you can link to a detail page for the dynamic info.
Staff Detail
This is a dynamic element that displays the details of a member. You can link Staff Layout, List or Featured elements to a page using the Staff Detail element, which dynamically showcases the current member.
Each theme includes a page called "Staff Detail" that utilizes the Staff Detail element.
Note: if your website does not included a Staff or Staff Detail page, you will need to follow the steps below to create a page and add the respective elements.
Add a Staff Element to a Page
- Create a new page or open an existing page where you'd like to add a staff element. You will need to add a block to the page where you'd like the element added.
- Click the Element Panel on the left side and and search for "Staff" from the list.
- Drag your chosen Staff element to the block on your page.
Connect Your Staff Detail Element
If you're using the Staff Layout, List or Featured element, you can connect the element settings to a page using the Staff Detail element. This will allow visitors to click the member's image/title and be directed to a separate page to view the member's bio.
To connect the element, follow these instructions:
- Once a staff element is added to a page, hover over the element and click the arrow at the top right
- Select the first option that appears in the menu bar and click "Page".
- In the dropdown, select "Pages" and start typing the title of the "Staff Detail" page. Once you see it populate in the field, select the page.
Note: If your website already includes a staff page with the staff layout element, the detail page will already be connected for you.
Staff Groups and Series
Within your Amplify Website module, you can use the Groups feature to organize your staff in different departments (pastors, ministry staff, etc.). This is located under People > Groups, and you can select the "Edit Group" option to add members.
The Series feature is used to manage a set of Groups, and this is located under People > Groups > Series tab. Within a series, you can specify the groups that are part of the series as well as the order of groups.
Within the Staff Layout element, your groups will display under the department filter dropdown. The series can be specified under the settings as well. If this is selected, only the groups within the series will display in the department filter, and only the staff members within these groups will display in the element.
For example, it's oftentimes helpful to create groups for your departments such as pastors, directors, ministry staff, and administration. From there, you can then create a group called "Staff" and ensure your groups are added to the series. Within the element settings, select the "Staff" series, which will update the element to only show the groups in your series as part of the department filter and also only display members within these groups.
Using a series can also be helpful if you have staff for different campuses, as well as separate staff for a church and school.
Staff Layouts and Blocks for your Theme
The Block Library includes pre-saved layouts and blocks with our Staff Elements for your Amplify Cloud Website. The blocks will be styled to match your theme, and you can easily add these layouts or blocks to any page on your site.
When adding a new block, you will see the block library display for your specific theme, and you can choose the Staff Layout or Staff Detail element block from the list.
Under the Layouts tab, choose the Amplify Templates option in the sidebar and select your theme from the grid provided. All the saved layouts for your theme will display, and you can select to "Import" the Staff Layout option from the list.
